Job Summary
In this position, either directly or through others, the incumbent, under guidance of the Lead Protection and Control Technician or Supervisor, is responsible for installing, testing, maintaining, calibrating, repairing, and troubleshooting protection and control and metering equipment and systems for Fossil Generation Facilities

Key Roles & Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned.
Directly or through others, the incumbent will:
Maintenance of all Plant protective relaying and associated control circuits (including testing, calibration, functional tests, trouble shooting, and installation of upgrades), such as:
Generator relaying
Main Power Transformer, Unit Auxiliary Transformer, Start-up/Standby Transformer relaying
All medium voltage switchgear relaying and transfer schemes
Plant/Switchyard interface relaying
Maintenance of Plant Metering:
MWh metering calibrations and upgrade installations
Voltage, current, watt, var, and frequency transducer calibrations and testing of associated equipment
Maintenance of ancillary equipment:
Emergency bearing oil pump test
Current transformer meggar test
Outage support
Interface with plant I&C personnel
Interface with outside contractors
Provide and/or support problem solving using trouble-shooting skills and DME recorder data
Lead new installation wiring verification, checkout, and functional test
Proficiency with the interpretation, revision, and maintenance of electrical, controls, relay protection, and metering drawings
Conducts diagnostic tests on generation facilities’ electrical equipment (ie: Generator CTs, PTs, and ancillary equipment).
Install, calibrate, and maintain equipment associated with data acquisition and remote telemetry to support required multiple ISO and NERC protocols
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
Engineering Power track a plus
Extended work hours; Routine travel (Typical 20% +/- overnight, more for planned outage support)
Call outs and responsive to plant needs at any time
Planned and unplanned outage support
Internal skills demonstration program
Strenuous physical effort such as climbing, lifting, temperature extremes, and dusty environment.
