In 2019, due to customer demand, we created a Mechanical Services Department dedicated to meeting the growing needs of our clients in the retrofit and installation Mechanical Services arena.
With this position, our desire is to find a supervisor to meet the growing needs of this department.
The person in this position would be required to live in or around the Abilene area.
Job Description
The HVAC/R Mechanical Services Supervisor will oversee and manage the procurement, design, planning, sale, and installation of HVAC/R (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration) systems in Mechanical Services work orders for new construction or existing buildings.
The purpose of this position is to carry out company policy and procedures as laid out by the Manager, and to reduce the workload of the Manager by solving problems before escalation.
Supervise jobs and crews.
The manager will take advice from the supervisor on personnel issues but will maintain employment status and pay considerations.
Reports To
The Mechanical Services Supervisor reports to the Mechanical Services Manager.
Compensation
Starting pay at $65,000.
00 annually or more, based on experience.
Job Duties
Strong and in-depth knowledge and understanding of HVAC/R systems.
Advanced understanding of layout, design, fabrication, wiring, sequence of operation and installation of HVAC/R systems.
Ability to manage a Project from the close of the sale forward, procurement of the equipment to the completion of the job and checking out with the customer.
Ability to read, interpret, utilize, and train on manuals, schematics, and control circuits related to the installation of HVAC/R systems.
Ability to motivate, manage, and train a team of employees at various skill levels.
Knowledge of state and local codes.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with both customers and employees.
Travel to work when required.
Work in the field and on jobs as required.
Proficient with computers, phones, and basic Microsoft software s such as Word and Excel and their most basic functions as well as other office equipment.
Ability to multi-task and juggle the oversight of multiple crews with multiple jobs going on at one time while being available to leads when needed.
Demonstrate attention to detail and be able to teach that same attention to detail to employees.
Demonstrate strong organizational skills and be able to teach that same skill to employees.
Ability to maintain a positive attitude while under pressure.
Encourage positive attitudes and discourage discourse and strife within the department.
Ability to create strategy and goals for team productivity and quality of work.
Ability to work safely with hands and power tools.
Ability to safely use scissor/power lifts/forklifts.
Ability to work at heights and on ladders.
Demonstrate the willingness to perform duties of all field employees in the department when required.
Must be open to flexible hours and days when duty calls versus filed workers.
Must be available for after-hours communication when required.
Job Requirements
A minimum of 5+ years commercial and industrial HVAC/R experience
Completion of High School or GED
EPA Universal
Valid Driver s License
Pass random drug test
Criminal background check
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Physical Job Requirements:
The HVAC/R Mechanical Services Supervisor is required to:
Stand for prolonged periods routinely, throughout the daily work schedule.
The English language is primary.
Bi-lingual is a bonus.
Walk around the job site, to business meetings, etc.
Operate a computer and other industry specific productivity machinery, such as a calculator and smartphone.
Talk/hear/communicate with Cary Services office staff and/or customers by phone or in person, exchanging accurate information in these situations.
Repeatedly lift irregularly shaped tools/hardware weighing 50 pounds, throughout the workday.
Climb ladders and work on building roofs productively at heights of 50 feet.
Work in extreme hot and cold conditions.
