gov) Position Description Material/Process Tech I Description: Performs routine material tests and manufacturing process inspections in laboratories, plants and/or at points of supply.
Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.
Material/Process Tech II Description: Performs routine and non-routine material tests and manufacturing process inspections in laboratories, plants and/or at points of supply.
Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Material/Process Tech III Description: Performs advanced material tests and manufacturing process inspections in laboratories, plants and/or at points of supply.
Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Essential Duties: Material/Process Tech I essential duties include: Conducts nuclear density tests on subgrade, base and asphaltic concrete pavement.
Performs routine material tests and inspects manufacturing processes and plant equipment in a manufacturing plant to ensure materials conform to Department specifications; as required moves material samples.
Receives training in material specifications and inspection procedures and techniques.
Secures, logs in and prepares samples of raw materials or manufactured materials at various stages of production for testing.
Works on core drill or auger rig crew.
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Material/Process Tech II essential duties include those listed above and: Maintains and assists in calibrating equipment.
Maintains inventory of test supplies.
Material/Process Tech III essential duties include all those listed above and: Conducts safety and employee forum meetings Independently performs advanced material tests, inspects manufacturing processes and plant equipment in a manufacturing plant or inspects materials at point of supply to ensure conformance to Department specifications.
Minimum Qualifications: Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.
Experience: Material/Process Tech I: 2 years laboratory work, material inspection or other eng-related activities Material/Process Tech II: 3 years laboratory work, material inspection or other eng-related activities Material/Process Tech III: 4 years laboratory work, material inspection or other eng-related activities (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent).
Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license.
This position requires driving a state vehicle.
