Description:
Performs routine maintenance duties and special projects for the hospital, campus facilities and houses.
Duties include maintenance for normal wear and tear on hospital boilers, chillers, plumbing, electrical, locks, keys, and security.
The maintenance tech duties also includes providing transportation services for patients in the community utilizing the hospital's shuttle bus.
Rotates in taking after hours and weekend call.
Steam boiler must be checked twice daily when on call.
Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent • Minimum one year experience in at least one of the trades related to the position • Valid Texas Driver’s license • Previous experience as a shuttle driver preferred • Must have a clean driving record • Current BLS ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES • May primarily perform trade work in specialty areas or perform tasks requiring specialized skills in multiple trades.
• Ability to apply methods and general procedures of applicable trades/maintenance techniques and develop skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment appropriate to the job.
• Tasks may include maintenance, repair placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction and design of facility components requiring the application of skills in planning, problem solving, and attention to detail, teamwork, communication and adherence to safety.
• May be required to possess and maintain required certifications, licensure, educational level and/or experience criteria as applicable to the tasks being performed and follow governmental, local and state codes/laws.
• Follows instructions through a standard work process, performs routine tasks, checks for accuracy before completion of task, identifies problems, determinates possible solutions and actively works to resolve issues.
• Performs transportation services for patients in the community who have appointments but no other mode of transportation • Maintains and follows a specific pick-up and drop-off schedule • Greets customers entering and exiting the shuttle vehicle • Possesses knowledge of, and stays current with, state traffic and criminal and civil statutes relevant to motor vehicle operations • Drives the vehicle in a safe manner following all motor vehicle laws, including speed limits in and around congested areas and on the hospital’s campus • Possess the ability to drive safely in all types of weather • Handles and maintains keys, radios and equipment per the hospital’s policies and procedures • Inspects vehicle for routine maintenance.
Reports to the manager and documents any vehicle issues or problems.
• Ensures a clean interior of the vehicle.
Sweeps and picks up any trash at the end of the shift.
• Communicates appropriately and clearly to manager, co-workers and other hospital staff.
• Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
• Interacts professionally with all patients • Recognizes and responds appropriately to the unique needs of varying age groups with home he/she has contact.
• Recognizes and responds to safety factors for age level involved.
• Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
• Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.

• Completes annual education requirements.
• Maintains regulatory requirements, including all federal, state, local and NFPA regulations and accrediting organization standards.
