I'd like to do some rattlesnake avoidance training with my dog and I am ready to pay for this service.
My dog and I basically live outside and often far in the sticks where my dog is regularly off leash.
We've crossed paths with a several rattlesnakes already and we've been very blessed - I would hate myself if I let something happen to him without training him.
I'm terrified of the snakes though and I have respect for them - I'd like help to catch the snake, do the training, and release the snake right back in its home the same day to minimize any stress.
My dog is EXTREMELY SMART.
I absolutely love my dog and he's never had a shock collar, but I would be responsibly using a shock collar for this specific training.
It's better then a bite.
For training I'd like the handler to muzzle the snake with medical tape and put it in the open field then walk away as my dog and I are walking up.
My dog may completely avoid the rattlesnake on his own and not need a zap from the collar, in which case I would feel comfortable and training is over.
If he needs a zap then I'll zap him and we will walk away.
After we are gone I'd like the handler to move the snake to a safe bush where we won't lose him.
Then walk away as my dog and I are walking up, ill zap my dog if he needs it.
I doubt my dog would need the second zap, he's very smart.
Regardless if dog needs the second zap or not, we will finish training with putting the snake in a box or other safe confined space where my dog can't see the snake and only hears /smells it .
Then I will zap him when he gets its smell.
That's the end of training and we release the snake.
