Here you’ll work on a wide range of projects and programs, including developing short and long-range master plans, perform planning studies and transportation needs assessments.

This is a part-time position working hours 8:00 am -12:00pm Monday - Friday Salary / Plan Grade: Planner I: B18 $25,000 - $33,835 / yearly Planner II: B20: $25,000 - $38,738/ yearly The Texas Department of Transportation reserves the sole right in determining the level of position based on the applicant’s work experience, education, skill level and all other appropriate factors, and based on business needs.
Minimum Salary: 25,000.

gov) Position Description Performs planning and programming activities in support of management-related programs and/or transportation projects.
Work requires contact with departmental managers, high-level executives, governmental/university officials and/or private entities.
Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.
Essential Duties: Assists departmental staff on administrative, technical and regulatory aspects of planning.
Assists in developing and implementing short-range and long-range local and statewide plans and projects.
Assists in reviewing and preparing correspondence, reports, studies, giving briefings and making presentations regarding program activities.
Assists with budget preparation; monitors and estimates future costs.
Conducts planning studies to include feasibility studies, master plans and environmental assessments.
Evaluates consultant performance for contractual compliance.
- Evaluates consultant performance for contractual compliance.
Reviews and evaluates plans and related documents to ensure compliance with applicable state or federal requirements and conformance to acceptable professional standards.
Serves as a project leader.
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Planner II: All the above and: Develops and implements short and long-range local and statewide plans and projects Oversees selected improvement planning projects.
Provides technical direction for the development and execution of transportation analysis or planning research Performs planning and programming activities in support of management related programs and/or transportation projects Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in transportation planning, engineering, business admin or related field.
Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis.
Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications Experience: Planner I = 1 year planning or research analysis experience.
Planner 2 = 2 years planning or research analysis experience (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated part time equivalent).
Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license.
This position requires driving a state vehicle.
